What is the best way to store your woollen sweaters?

You can enjoy woollen jumpers for many years. But when you're not wearing them, you'll naturally want to store them in your wardrobe. So what's the best way to do that, so your jumpers keep their shape? In this blog post, we'll give you a few tips to help you keep your favourite garment looking lovely for as long as possible.

How you wash your jumper matters, but how you store it when you're not wearing it is certainly just as important. Always lay your woollen jumper flat in the wardrobe. It's definitely not a good idea to hang your woollen jumper on a hanger. This puts too much pressure on the fibres, causing your jumper to lose its shape due to gravity. What's more, a hanger can cause damage to the wool — think loops or even holes.

Have you just washed your jumper? Then it's best to lay it flat to dry straight away. When the fibres in your jumper are wet, they're even more delicate and will therefore stretch out even more quickly. The water also makes your jumper a lot heavier, so it suffers even more from gravity. Also make sure your jumper is completely dry when you put it in your wardrobe.

Lavender and cedarwood

Do you really want to pamper your woollen jumper? Then it's best to store it in a fabric bag. That way your gorgeous jumper is fully protected and you can be sure it will still look as good as new when you want to put it on again. If you don't do this? Then it could well be that moths have made small holes in your jumper. Another extra tip against these little creatures is scented sachets with lavender and cedarwood, because moths don't like these scents. Added bonus: your jumper will also smell wonderful!

You might be wondering how moths end up in your wardrobe and why they choose your woollen jumper? When you let your jumpers dry outside, it can happen that moths lay their eggs in your clothing. In addition, moths always seek out warmth and therefore fly indoors through open windows and doors. Since your woollen jumper is an animal product, this is the garment of choice for them.
